Fees, Grants, Maintenance & Scholarships

Fees
Incoming students should note that in the event of a Government decision to introduce a new form of student contribution from a future point in time, any such arrangements are liable to apply from that time. All students are required to pay fees prior to the commencement of their programme.

Tuition Fees
EU Nationals are not normally required to pay tuition fees for undergraduate (Higher Certificate, Bachelor Degree, Honours Bachelor Degree) programmes in ITT Dublin. Non-EU Nationals are required to pay services and tuition fees. Details can be obtained from the Admissions Office. This fee is inclusive of tuition and student services charges. Applicants who have already attended a third level institution should be aware that this may affect their entitlement to free tuition fees and maintenance grants. Applicants who already hold a Degree may not be entitled to any grant support. For further information contact the Admissions Office.

Fees Refund Policy
The Institute accepts no obligation to refund any fee (or any part of a fee) paid by a student to the Institute in respect of any programme or service provided by the Institute to a student who withdraws from a programme or module. A full refund (less administration fee) will be given if requested in writing before the commencement of a programme. Refunds will not be given thereafter. Requests for fee refunds should be made in writing to the Registrar. The date of receipt of the written request will be taken as the applicable date for consideration of refund requests.

Special Cases: Where by virtue of a higher offer through the CAO, a student withdraws to take up another programme a full refund of fees will apply subject to a written request being made. Where a student has to withdraw from a programme or module in exceptional circumstances which includes certified serious illness, having registered and paid the applicable fee a partial refund may be considered. Detailed medical certificates or supporting documentation must accompany any refund request. No requests for refunds will be considered unless presented before March 1st 2010.

Notes: For the purposes of this refund policy the term ‘fee’ is meant to include any tuition payment, any examinations fee payment and any student services fee payment made by a student. The student services fee comprises the capitation fee and the student services charge. The student services charge element is only refundable up to 31st October, 2010.

Student Services Charge
All undergraduate students are required to pay a services fee each year, unless they are in receipt of the maintenance grant. The registration fee covers the costs associated with registration, examinations and student services. The fee is determined annually by the Minister for Education and Science.

Maintenance Grants
Maintenance grants are available to students on full-time Higher Certificate, Bachelor Degree and Honours Bachelor Degree programmes. Students pursuing these programmes have tuition fees paid and a maintenance grant may be payable subject to the conditions of the various schemes. Students have to satisfy a means test, residence and nationality requirements.  Payment of tuition fees is automatic on receiving a place on a designated programme provided that the candidate has not already completed a programme (other than progression to a post-Certificate Diploma, Bachelor Degree) or is not repeating a year. There is no age limit so mature students are eligible for grant aid.  For information on how the various grant schemes operate, including where to apply see www.studentfinance.ie
